Lucide sent us this: the publisher of the upcoming French graphic adaptation of the Farseer trilogy, Soleil, has posted the final versions of the first pages online. L'Assassin Royal, Volume 1: Le Bâtard will be available the 24th of September. You can browse the samples here. The page takes awhile to load, and you have to click on the top right corner of the cover to "browse" the book.

French fans might also like to know that Retour au pays (Homecoming) is being republished: a Librio edition was published in August and another paperback edition by J'ai lu is on it's way in October.

There is a newish Robin Hobb interview available at elbakin.net that was done during Imaginales this year. It has also been translated to English. Beware of spoilers though, if you haven't yet read the Tawny Man trilogy!

"Subterranean" short story news

Tidbits about the upcoming anthology from Subterranean Press are starting to surface. The anthology A Fantasy Medley is edited by Yanni Kuznia and will be published in March 2009. Robin Hobb's story Words Like Coins is set in the Realm of the Elderlings universe! The other authors are Kate Elliott, Kelley Armstrong and C.E. Murphy. According to Murphy's blog this is going to be a limited edition of about 2500 copies. Read more about the book from Robin's MySpace.

Robin has posted about her recent trip to France at her myspace and also added some photos to her photobucket album.

The French fans are treated to yet another beautiful cover - this time by the publisher Baam! that is reprinting the Farseer trilogy. This is part one of two of Royal Assassin. I think this is the fourth different edition for the French already, unless I'm totally confused with all the splitting and regrouping!

Also, Anneke sent us a report from the Elf Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands that was held back in April. You can see it here. Thank you, Anneke!

Voyager has published a new cover for an upcoming paperback edition of Forest Mage. It's a brown trout by Jackie Morris and the book is scheduled for the 2nd of July 2008.

Les Rivages Maudits have posted the cover art for the first part of the upcoming French graphic adaptation of the Farseer trilogy. Artist's name is Didier Graffet and as usual, the cover might still change before the publication which will be in September. Click on the thumbnail for a bigger version.

New cover for Renegade's Magic?

Thanks to Lucide for reminding me about this: Voyager is going to publish a paperback edition of Renegade's Magic the first of July (details). The cover they have posted features the image of Orandula we've seen on Jackie Morris' site. But did they just change the illustrator in the middle of the paperback series, or will there be one with John Howe's cover as well? (We've already seen the hardback and the "large format" mass market paperback with his art for RM.) what do you think? Drop by at the forums and let us know!

Imaginales is getting closer

From Lucide:

Christophe Vacher (who illustrated the US covers for the Soldier Son trilogy) has been nomined for the Imaginales Award in the illustration's category for his cover of Le Cavalier Rêveur (it's the same as the US cover for Shaman's Crossing).

Imaginales will be held May 22th - 25th, but Robin is coming to France even earlier: there will be a press conference on the 19th of May at the Fnac Saint-Lazare in Paris at 15:00 to 18:00 (3PM to 6PM) as well as another event on the 21st of May at the Fnac of Nancy at 17:30 (5:30PM). If you're attending, Rivages Maudits is the place that keeps you updated.

New Farseer graphics

Patrick has posted a new coloured piece from the upcoming French graphic adaptation of the Farseer trilogy. It's originally from Rivages Maudits and shows the first meeting of Fitz and Burrich as well as some adventures of Fitz and Nosy. You can see it here.

The first part of the graphic novel has been turned in to the publisher and Laurent Sieurac, the illustrator, has begun work on the second one. The first part is scheduled to be released this September and the cover will be drawn by Didier Graffet.

Italian Golden Fool and more new covers to come

Fanucci Editore will be publishing an Italian translation of the Golden Fool.

And although there aren't yet any samples online, Jackie Morris will illustrate covers for new Lindholm paperbacks as well.

Some exciting news from Robin herself: the Korean language rights to the Farseer trilogy have been bought by Nexvision.

And we can add one more story to the upcoming writings list: a Robin Hobb short story in an anthology from Subterranean Press edited by Yanni Kuznia - no title for the story or the book nor a release date are known yet.

Also - don't forget to keep an eye on Jackie Morris' journal - some very fascinating art for the reprints of the Tawny Man trilogy seem to be taking shape.

Lucide has sent us some news from France.

The following translations have been published in April:
* An anthology of urban fantasy titled De Brocéliande en Avalon edited by Lucie Chenu that contains Le Quadragénaire et la Dame d'Argent (Silver Lady and the Fortyish man), by Terre de Brume.

* La magie de la peur, vol 4 of Le Soldat Chamane
(part 2/3 of the split translation of Forest Mage), by Pygmalion

* La porte du Limbreth (The Limbreth Gate), paperback by J'ai lu

* Le cavalier rêveur, vol 2 of Le Soldat Chamane (second half of Shaman's
Crossing), paperback by J'ai lu

* Ombres et flammes, vol 8 of Les aventuriers de la mer (part 2/3 of the split translation of Ship of Destiny), paperback by J'ai lu

Also, prior to her visit to the Imaginales 2008 festival (May 22th - 25th) Robin is expected to make an appearance May 19th in Fnac Saint-Lazare - though this event is still tentative. More information in French at Rivages Maudits.
