Finally figured out something I'd been screwing up a lot lately with the characters' head shapes. Drawing with a Cintiq is no excuse to get lazy!

So the upcoming Opeth album is floating around on the internet. Being a huge Opeth nerd I felt compelled to write a post about my initial impressions of the album. It may be perused at your pleasure over on the ol' music blog.

Hoo boy, got a whole bunch of stuff to recommend to you tonight.

First of all, we have a NEW SHIRT up for pre-order: The Kittymonster. Spiritual successor to our popular Bearmonster design and produced because you people would not stop emailing me about Hannelore's kitty t-shirt from a while back. We'll do pre-orders until the end of next Friday and then order the first batch. This is also an EXPERIMENT to see if you guys prefer American Apparel t-shirts to Hanes and Gildan. Vote with your dollars, the American way!

Secondly, I have been listening the HELL out of the new album by Osbourne (no relation to Ozzy). It is self-titled and SO GOOD. Imagine if The Album Leaf were interested in making house music, or if Telefon Tel Aviv cheered up for once. The first two tracks, "16th Stage" and "Downtown" are absolute must-listens, and the rest of the record is really fun too.

Finally, I came across Wasted Talent the other day, which is a really cute little diary-style comic. If you enjoy cute artwork and silly humor and don't mind liberal use of 4chan-isms, you will probably enjoy it!

It is good to be back in good ol Massachusetts. Seattle was unbelievably kind to us, we will certainly return next year. Now we're catching up on a couple weeks of shirt orders- thanks for your patience re: that, by the way.

I have around 25 of the limited edition prints left, I am trying to decide what to do with them. "Put 'em up on the site" is certainly an option, so keep your eyes peeled.

Oh MAN Emerald City was a good time. Thanks so much to everyone who came to say hi! I did so much drawing on Saturday that I rubbed one of my knuckles raw on the paper. It was CRAZY.

Yelling Bird is right, I did finally get to meet Wil Wheaton, and he is one of the nicest, most excellent fellows I have had the pleasure to associate with. He also does indeed have an excellent beard at the moment. It lends him...distinction.

Anyway, sorry about the Yelling Bird comic, I really did forget the appropriate adapter so I am unable to draw until we get home tomorrow night. Regular QC should resume then.

If you ask me what MY tattoos represent, I will most likely mutter something awkward about "liking little birds." There is more to it than that, but I don't like talking about it. It's...complicated?

The Litany of Fear tattoo, on the other hand, simply signifies that I am a huge nerd with equally huge anxiety disorders.

Today's XKCD made me really happy, because when Randall and I were originally having that conversation I wasn't sure it would translate into comic strip form and still be funny. I think he did a great job though! The part with the gazelle will always crack me up.

So ROFLcon was an extremely good time. It was excellent to hang out with my webcomics pals (and great to meet the Cyanide & Happiness guys, I had no idea they even knew my comic existed) and meet lots of other internet weirdos. The Tron Guy is one of the nicest folks I've had the pleasure to meet. I missed the big Saturday party due to Problems, but it was still fun overall. Also I finally got to check out Randall's ballpit, which was a good (if not a little...chilly) time.

Anyway see you tomorrow I have to go catch up on about a weekend's worth of sitting in one spot and not moving.

Faye Whitaker: the most frustrating person in the universe.

So the new M83 album is floating around on the internet and I really, really like it. It may come off a little corny at first, but by the time you get to the breakdown 2/3 of the way through the standout track "Couleurs" you will be as hooked as I am. It's really, really good electronic pop, and M83's love letter to the 1980s.

Sorry today's comic is so late, I spent most of the night writing about two weeks' worth of scripts to get all the ideas about this current arc out of my head and into a text file where they would not be lost.

Faye is doing the thing I do with my anxieties, which is bounce back and forth between rational thought and "AUGH OH GOD EVERYTHING IS RUINED FOREVER." I have no idea if this is a common thing or something peculiar to my own neuroses, but it's there nonetheless.

Let me tell you, drawing a comic while feverish is not any fun at all.

So if you are into post-rock, I cannot recommend the new self-titled record by This Will Destroy You enough! It is super-good, mixing the morose melodicism of Rock Action era Mogwai with the rokkin' crescendos of early Explosions in the Sky. It is delicious.

I have seriously spent all of the last two days laying on my couch in what would be charitably described as a semi-lucid state. Apologies for the Yelling Bird comic. I hope to be back to the drawin' board tomorrow.

Incidentally, that was the best Super Bowl I think I have ever seen, although it may be due to the afforementioned delerium.

I changed some of the settings on my Cintiq in between panels 1 and 2 of tonight's comic. It's a subtle difference but I think the linework looks a little less sterile now!
