Elaine, netted necklace

After 12 pictures this "last shot" was the best I could come up with.

I made this one over the weekend. It's a Varvara pattern I never got around to making earlier. Created with rose gold and gunmetal Miyuki delicas and 4mm Swarovski bicones.

The only clear picture was the flat one, so I'll include that too.

At this point I've got nothing on my 'to make' list that doesn't involve buying more beads, and I have kittens incoming soon, so my new necklaces might be sparse for a while save for the occasional 'by request' job.

Pomegranate & Winter Frost

Tying up some loose ends. I finished a few projects I had waiting on more materials.

Pomegranate
Beaded with 4mm natural garnet gemstones, silver rose and black delicas. This design came before the Crystal necklace, but I was more conservative with the quartz I used in that one. *grins*

There's actually a design flaw in this one. How many times do I have to tell you to never approach a necklace from two opposite ends?! But I am at peace with it.

Winter Frost

I took a picture of this one a while back showing just how close I was to finishing it. Beaded with steel and white delicas.

I made another "fluffy" spiral necklace, but this time I added in rutilated quartz chips in the center.

The Miyuki delica colors are a translucent coffee, golden rose, and champagne.

I saw my dark blue pearls next to the 3mm crystals I had and realized they belonged with each other.

Week long vacation + taking it easy = long time no post!

But here we go:

Crystal
Made with clear and opaque miyuki delicas and bugles and clear quartz 4mm beads.

This one has a similar design to the garnet bead necklace. I've ordered more garnets to finish it, so I should have that one done soon.

Black Tie

This one is a similar design to Oceana, but I made this one a choker. It looked stunning when I tried it on that way.

Three shades of pink Miyuki delicas and 4mm rose colored Swarovski pearls.

Not only did I undo the 1st construction, but the second one as well (earlier in the process though).

I am very happy to be finished with this one.

That simple suffix has caused the ruin of 2 consecutive necklaces.

The Garnet Necklace:

I designed to use all the garnets I had. When I'm making a 'fringe' necklace, I design half of it. I failed to properly multiply the hanging strands by 2. In result? The necklace is half done. I'll need to order 2 more strands of garnets to finish it.

The Cupcake Necklace:

Using rose colored pearls I designed a necklace similar to Winter Frost. In my effort to account for the fact that unlike Winter frost, I was adding the fringe using a single netted row, I have reached half the necklace and it's width is twice as long as it was supposed to be. I did not *need* to account for the difference in the stitch at all. Not even a little. End result: the solution is not as tidy as "buy more pearls." It's "take the whole thing apart."
The twist? I really like the design as I have it. I just have to figure out how to get it down to half its length. *laughs*

The past two weeks I've taken my graciously sweet time with a couple projects.

1. I made a dutch spiral with some tiger's eye beads. I tried and failed several times to create something that used the regular tiger's eye and the red tiger's eye. The dutch spiral is short at present, and I'll need to think of something to do with it to bring it to necklace length.

2. I'm making a necklace and matching earrings for a spiral bracelet I made a customer a while ago. I'm waiting on the clasps / hooks for those to come in to complete it.

3. I made a beautiful combination netting / fringe necklace with 3 shades of green, light green crystals and malachite chips. I took it over to a house to show off with my other necklaces and it sold. I took a picture of it with someone else's digital camera, but I'll have to wait until the photo gets back to me. 0.o

What type of necklace is this anyway? A V-neck collar? Not sure, but I adore my design and hope to explore it with other colors and patterns in the future.

I stalled towards the end. I had created the V and thought, "How am I going to clasp this?" After a lot of pacing and staring into dead space, I improvised the clasp, also to my liking.

I include both views of it on the bust and flat, so that you can see how I decided to clasp it.

For the first time in several necklaces my paranoia panned out and I ran out of steel delicas on this design. Additionally, I'm on a "You better not buy any more beads until you use the ones you have" restriction. So, Frost is placed away until such time that I reorder beads, but here's what I have done:

In light of it taking me so long to design and construct Frost, I decided to work on something simpler. The result is Revaire. I used my snowflake obsidian and gray delicas. I designed this one based on a pattern by S.D. Halpenny, the bottom border was my addition.

It's the red variation on Blue Jean that I promised myself. I didn't cascade it down, but made it a longer collar. 4 shades of red, black, and 2 shades of red crystals.

And the name is oh so perfect.

I worked and reworked this design a few times. I'm very happy with what I ended up with. This one wears so beautifully.

I created this one with bronze delicas and 326 4mm Swarovski cream pearls.

This necklace's best feature is how it feels. The mini spirals give it a pleasant feel.

My current project is a textured spiral necklace, opera length, so it may be another day or so before I am finished with it. I may take a progress picture tonight or tomorrow.

The unique part of the design of this necklace involves measuring each change in the "fluffiness" of the necklace by centimeters, 3cm of this design, 5cm of the next.

I dreamed last night that I made the necklace too long. That was different. I usually fret that I'm going to run out of beads. (To this day, that's never happened. In fact, I'm using the 80g of beads that I had a surplus of from making the Isis collar.)

Anyway, I picked up the part of necklace I had done and measured it while it was hanging. The two 7cm parts measured 8 to 9cm. If I had continued to measure this necklace while it was laying flat, I *was* going to make it too long.

So I made some adjustments and will now measure it while hanging.

A little anxiety goes a long way. *grins*

This is a custom necklace I created based on my design of Wild Carnation. I changed the pattern up a bit and got what I believe is a more balanced distribution.

I used the colors copper, champagne, coffee, and chocolate for the delicas and smoky topaz, light topaz, and burgundy for the crystals.

I know I've done well with a piece when I really don't want to let it go.

This necklace was created from a pattern by Chris Prussing. I beaded this lacy piece with grey luster Miyuki delicas and with 3mm black diamond and comet Swarovski crystals.

I had a lot of fun with this one. I got a feel for some different techniques.

I have been working on this one since Friday. Friday was design day alone!

I am extremely proud of this piece. I don't typically like pink, but this necklace gives me a whole new appreciation:

I used gunmetal, pink lemonade, cotton candy, and neon pink Miyuki delicas, and silk, rose, and fuchsia Swarovski crystals. I also branched out and used 6mm gunmetal Miyuki delicas.

The most tedious part of making this one was paying attention to the count of each row. I used a spreadsheet as my design tool. It worked wonders for me.

For a while, I thought to call this necklace Memorial Day, but I chose to stick with my original name.

Here's my 'loopy' necklace design with a rainbow of delicas: pink, red, orange, yellow, light green, green, sky blue, blue, violet, and lavender paired with translucent white.

I think it turned out gorgeous.

Here are the two custom necklaces I created.

Kristin:

I finished this one yesterday. The design is by Sandra Halpenny. I used cobalt blue and amethyst gold Miyuki delicas and 6mm amethyst Swarovski crystals.

I named this one after the woman it was created as a gift for.

Gemlot

This choker is adapted from a design by Galina, similar to the one I made before called Fertile Earth. I created this one for my cousin and named it after one of her more "arcane" names. She picked the colors, light spring green delicas and chrysolite crystals. It is such a light and airy piece.

I have a necklace stand now, so my photos from here out will have a different look. No more flat photos!

I designed this one from a marriage of all the previous coral technique projects I've done. I created a necklace using the coral technique with the deep cascade of beads and gracious use of crystals.

Lavender and purple delicas and 146 violet crystals.

Now with that done, I will get to work on a couple custom orders I have waiting in the wings.
