Newsletter Of Many Things

Hello Everyone

I hope you are as excited as I am - less than two weeks to go!

Before the con we wanted to give you a low-down of all the things you may need or want to know…

I'm hoping I don't need to say this again but NO ID, NO ENTRY. Ahem, my point is made.

We’ve increased our capacity to 1500 this year, a record for any UK convention ever, making us the biggest, most inclusive con in the country and we do not intend to disappoint!

Our confirmed guests are prolific voice actress Kari Walgren and cultural ambassador Akemi Solloway, we will also be joined by band Gothika.

Monica Rial had also intended to make the trans-Atlantic trip but due to an incredibly hefty work load has been unable to do so this year – she has asked us to pass on her best wishes to you all.

Congratulations to Paul Cosgrove, our VIP ticket competition winner and thanks to all who entered, it was the first time we have attempted anything like that and we were blown away by a great response.

This is just the first of many fantastic competitions this year, not least of which is the Amecon's Artist Alley Competition. Look out for details of the competition at the con for your chance to win a Wacom Favo Pack.

Thanks to a fervent and enlightening debate, this year's official Amecon t-shirt has been dubbed the 'marmite' of conshirts. Pre-orders for shirts and pillows are still available so get in there quick!

Should anyone be without accommodation at this late stage there are some rooms still available at Opal Court. You can get more information from the University of Leicester Conferences Office, call: 0116 221 2032. They are en suite, single occupancy rooms at £40 per night.

A final word about payment, anyone who still has money outstanding MUST get their money in by Friday August 1st. The only method of payment we are now accepting is google checkout as there is no longer enough time to process cheques.

Phew - that's it! Look forward to seeing you all there.

Best wishes

The Amecon '08 Team

I have just sent emails to the last 50 people, so please check your inboxes for details

Due to the close proximity of the convention, the only method of payment we are now accepting is via Google Checkout (as there is not time to process cheques) - details have been emailed to you of how to do this (it's really secure and easy!) All outstanding payments must be recieved by Friday 1st August, so that everything can be processed in time for the con!

Don't worry about waiting for anything to come in the post, as you pick up your badge and conpack from the registrations desk when you arrive at the convention.
Hello everyone~!

Amecon is now only 2 weeks away, and as if you weren't getting excited enough already - I would like to announce that this year we are holding a competition in the Amecon Artists Alley! One of our lucky attendees will be walking away with a Wacom Favo Pack!

The Wacom Favo Pack is a very nifty little set – perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike. It comes with a USB powered white Wacom Graphire4, a copy of Manga Studio Debut and also Painter Essentials for both black and white/screentone comic work and full-on digital colour madness. The European release of this set comes in the original Japanese packaging for ‘added authenticity’ but rest assured that the contents inside are in English ^_~

The competition is open to all attendees of Amecon 2008. More details will be available from the Artists Alley at the weekend itself.

Amecon will be providing artists with basic materials, however we have no objection to artists bringing along their own, more specialist materials and equipment if they choose to do so

Good luck, mina-sama!!!

~The Amecon Committee

PC System Requirements:
A CD-Rom drive.
A free USB port.
Operates under: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista/X64

Mac System Requirements:
A CD-Rom drive.
A free USB port.
Operates under: Mac OS-X
