I just had a very physically violent reaction against something I read,
completely uncontrollably. I feel sick to my stomach still, and
while I was reading, I finally reached a point where I had
convulsions. I just kicked at my wall. I was (and am) that
incensed by what I was reading.

Oh dear. I think I need fresh air.
California Gov. Schwarzenegger's office is accepting calls from
anywhere regarding their marriage equality bill. It passed both houses
of their legislature, but needs the Governor's approval. It's all
automated, so you don't have to talk to anyone.

Follow these directions:
1. Call the Governor: 916-445-2841 (This number is listed at www.governor.ca.gov)
2.
Push: 2 (voice your opinion on legislation)you don't actually have to
voice your opinion, this is just what the automated recording says)
3. Push: 1 (gender-neutral marriage bill - Senate Bill 849)
4. And push: 1 to support marriage equality

Pass it on.

Sunday, September 04, 2005

I used to have long hair. Today I thought I'd get a trim. Trims are nice.

When my mom saw it, I asked my usual question, the one I ask every time
I get a hair cut. I have strange perceptions about my hair and
have this odd tendency to get emotionally attached to every inch.

So I asked my mom if it was still long, right? She always says yes. It's always still long.

She paused. "I think I'd describe it as medium length."

This is not sitting well with me.

See, I ran out of reading material, and my Stanford Summer Reading List
doesn't arrive for another week and a half, so I asked my mom for a
good book, and she handed me the Kite Runner.

Apparently it is a really good book, and the first sixty pages or so
were really good. And then there was a rape scene that forced me
to abandon the book and go into a frantic search for the lightest,
happiest, fluffiest books I could locate. And hence, we arrive at
Jane Austen. Jane Austen is the antithesis of rape. No one
even holds hands without an engagement ring, let alone attempt anything
else without a wedding.

As an aside, the night before last someone forked my car with 48
Albertson's spoons. I don't care that it was technically
"spooned" rather than "forked". Forking is now the general term
used to describe the act of filling someone's car or living space with
cutlery. I can't for the life of me figure out who did it
though. I can't help but think it was a novice given that:
(a) There were only 48, not 350
(b) They were spoons
(c) Anne-Marie was out of town
(d) My sister was out of town and
(e) I don't think Kelsey would do this on her own.
Oh, and I certainly didn't fork my own car.

So who else forks cars in this town?
Tuesday, August 02, 2005

"and from the whole she deduced this useful lesson, that to go
previously engaged to a ball does not necessarily increase either the
dignity or enjoyment of a young lady."

This afternoon I hereby dedicate to the marvel that is Jane Austen. If only all classic literature could be this fluffy.
Saturday, July 30, 2005

This morning I went to the dentist. She informed me that the
reason my gums are swollen and bleeding more than usual is because I'm
PMSing.

Why does that make sense? And because I'm more pissy than usual
do you have to fucking PROD ME WITH A SHARP, POINTY METAL STICK UNTIL I
BLEED?

It's been a long day.
Quebecians are very weird indeed, much like their French counterparts.

Sitting in Hollywood video reading the movie descriptions of French
language films is highly entertaining. Those movies are
bizarre. "Nazi spy stalks journalist in love with hired killer
being pursued by government agent"

Anyway, Jesus of Montreal. It had more biblical parallels than my
(similarly titled) short story, and that's saying something. And
the parallels were WAY more graphic. It was a pretty good movie
though. See it if you're feeling cynically inspired by the beauty
of life.
